We hope you all had a Thanksgiving filled with love, food, naps and whatever else you needed to recharge.

This week we decided to just be up front and real

Let’s talk about the BS that society places on mental health. Sure, it’s becoming trendy to join the wellness wave and embrace mental health, BUT there are still societal barriers that get in the way of being vulnerable and taking that first step to treat mental health with the same care we give our physical health.

Here are 3 societal barriers our team put together:

  1. Stereotyping Mental Illness

    • People with mental health conditions are often labeled as "crazy," "dangerous," or "unstable."

    • These stereotypes perpetuate fear and isolation for those who need help.

  2.  Lack of Understanding for "Invisible Illnesses"

    • Mental health struggles often lack visible symptoms, leading people to assume that someone is "fine" or "faking it."

  3. Men Can’t Struggle with Mental Health

    • Toxic masculinity promotes the belief that men must always be strong and emotionless.

    • This stigma discourages men from being vulnerable or seeking support.
